To accelerate marketing and sales, the Sales Movement Initiative – Bhimthadi came into picture under the young and dynamic leadership of Hon M.P. Supriya Sule and Mrs. Sunanda Pawar.‘Bhimthadi Jatra’ is a trade fair where earning opportunities are created for rural women and artisans by bringing their products directly to the urban markets via long term fair trading relationships. It seeks to expose women to various initiatives at the national and international level. It also seeks to explore cultural facets of a woman and to spread awareness about health care.Since 2006 to advertise and sell products, every year, Bhimthadi jatra is organised in Pune, which is known for its reputation as the cultural and educational capital of Maharashtra, and it’s recognition as a global city with all modern means of communication. Distinguished dignitaries visited this fair to give a further boost to rural women. In 2013, Bhimthadi Jatra was organized at national level. This created an opportunity to see and compare their products with Self Help Groups from other states . The fair was open to people from all social strata and for the first time it showcased the talent of women entrepreneurs. Awareness was spread about garbage and waste management and the exhibition was declared as ‘No Plastic Zone’. Bhimthadi has earned its own reputation and is applauded at the regional and national level. Renowned personalities and experts are invited to guide woman participants on sales, packaging, and product quality. Bhimthadi Fair is a brand and an exceptional source for unique handmade gifts, jewellery, home décor, art and sculpture, textiles, serveware and personal accessories representing the diverse cultures in India. The ‘Bhimthadi Fair’ has not only made rural women self-sustaining but also infused new confidence and wisdom in them.
