Bhimthadi Jatra is a vibrant trade fair initiated under the dynamic leadership of Hon. MP Supriya Sule and Mrs. Sunanda Pawar. Launched in 2006, this initiative was designed to create a direct marketing platform for rural women, artisans, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to showcase and sell their products in urban markets. Held annually in Pune, a city renowned for its cultural and educational significance, Bhimthadi Jatra brings rural creativity to a wider audience through fair trade practices.
The event fosters exposure to national and international trends, encouraging skill development in areas such as product design, packaging, branding, and waste management. In 2013, the event reached a national level, welcoming SHGs from across India to exchange ideas and experiences. The fair has also been declared a ‘No Plastic Zone’, promoting environmental consciousness alongside economic empowerment.
Visitors to Bhimthadi Jatra enjoy a diverse range of handmade products including textiles, jewellery, home décor, and organic goods. Distinguished personalities and domain experts frequently attend to inspire and guide women entrepreneurs. Bhimthadi has grown into a recognized brand, representing not just a marketplace but a powerful platform for social transformation, economic independence, and cultural celebration for rural women.
