Sharda Mahila Sangh

Recognizing that rural women form the backbone of India's village economy, Sharda Mahila Sangh was established in 2006 by Mrs. Sunanda Pawar under the aegis of the Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati. The organization aims to empower women socially, financially, and educationally, enabling them to break free from cycles of poverty and dependence.

Sharda Mahila Sangh is a federation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed by rural women who are trained in entrepreneurship through workshops, seminars, study tours, and hands-on skill development programs. The Sangh supports a wide range of economic activities including food processing, spice and pickle production, leather and handicraft making, bakery products, handloom, medicinal herbs, and vermicomposting.

Beyond economic independence, the Sangh promotes health awareness, financial literacy, and social empowerment. Women are encouraged to form savings groups in collaboration with banks, access loans, and manage their own finances. The initiative has created a ripple effect, empowering thousands of women across Baramati and nearby villages.

Key activities include entrepreneurship development, product marketing, agri-allied training, health and hygiene programs, and World Women’s Day celebrations with inspiring talks by successful women entrepreneurs. Sharda Mahila Sangh continues to stand as a beacon of empowerment and transformation in rural Maharashtra.
