The Trekking Camp organized by the Department of Environmental Science aims to connect students with nature and instill environmental awareness. Held annually in the month of May, the 15-day camp includes a range of exciting and educational activities designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for natural ecosystems.
Students engage in various adventure activities such as net climbing, river crossing, ropeway challenges, and bird watching, all conducted under expert supervision to ensure safety. Treks are organized to iconic locations such as Torana Fort, Panhala, and Makarandgad Fort, as well as Kaas Plateau, known for its rich biodiversity.
Extended trips have also been arranged to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, including visits to Rohtang Pass, Nainital, and Bedni Bugyal, allowing students to explore diverse landscapes and cultural experiences. The camp encourages environmental sensitivity and personal development by offering students firsthand experiences with India’s natural beauty.
These trekking and nature camps serve not only as recreational outings but also as eco-educational initiatives, reinforcing the importance of conservation and sustainable living. The program leaves lasting impressions on students, nurturing lifelong respect for the environment and a spirit of adventure.
